The Rules:
The cards depicting a number are worth their numerical value
Cards depicting a King, Queen or Jack are worth a value of 10
Aces are worth 1 or 11 as required
The sum of the value of the cards in your hand denote your score
The best possible hand is a "seven card charlie" which is taking seven cards without going over 21 (or "busting")
The next best is 21 - 21 gained by any number of cards or combinations is worth exactly the same eg A♠J♠ is worth the same as 2♥ 2♠ 10♦ 7♣
The next best hands are those closest but under 21
If all hands are bust at the showdown the the closest to 21 is the best hand i.e. a 22 beats a 23
You cannot take another card once you are already bust i.e. if you bust on your 6th card you cant take another just to fake a 7 card charlie etc.
and thats about it!
The Betting
The Start A marker known as the dealer button sits in front of a designated player to determine the order of betting and position of the blinds. The blinds are a fixed amount you must pay to play if they fall upon you. There are two blinds, namely the big blind, and the small blind. The small blind is payed (or posted) by the player directly to the left of the dealer and the big blind is posted directly to left of the small blind. Blind ensure nobody just sits and folds all day long until they get an ace.
In addition to the blinds all players must post an ante (fixed amount into the centre pot) which is usually worth half the small blind (even players posting the blind must post this as well)
You are then dealt one card. No other player can see this but you.
First Round Betting
The first player to act is the one directly to the left of the big blind. Most sites will keep you straight on this by showing you your options. Players can either fold (take no part in the hand, costs no more but cant win), check (pass without betting) or raise a fixed amount.
In the first round a raise is fixed to the size of the big blind, although several players can re-raise making the total to call (see the bet and move to next round) sometimes a maximum of 4 times the big blind. Players can only re-raise 3 times per round
Second Round Betting
All players are dealt an additional card face up. All players can see this card.
The first player to act is the person directly following the Dealer Button.
The betting takes place as in the first round however any raise is now fixed to 2 times the big blind.
Third Round - The Hit or Stand Round Players can now stand or hit. Any cards they take will be face down and no other players will see them. You cannot hit on a bust hand. You can stick on anything. Note: players who bust are still in the gameThird Round BettingThe first player to act is the person directly following the Dealer Button.
Betting is again similar to the previous two betting rounds however this time players can raise any amount between 2 times and 10 times the big blind.
The Showdown
Players then show their hands to determine who wins. The player with the best hand wins the pot
Ties split the pot
The dealer button then moves to the person to the left of the dealer and a new hand begins
