The importance of position

Being the last to act is always a significant advantage. This occurs when the dealer button is in front of you (also known as being "on the button"). You usually know how much to call and there is less likely chance of a re-raise opportunity by other players. The dealer position tends to command an option of closing the betting. This position allows you to call weaker hands that you usually wouldnt call (both to deceive players watching you and to draw a 20 or 21 with a weaker hand).
First to act is often the most problematic. You can call and then be re-raised by other players who follow, meaning you loose money to fold or you have to call more than you wanted. In this position in my opinion it is very important to call with only a 10 or an ace most of the time.
In between the two we have a varying good to bad spiral which are lesser versions of the dealer and first acting positions respectively.
